My Perfect Peel Experience
What is the Perfect Peel and why is it different?
The Perfect Peel is a medium depth peel which causes carefully controlled damage to the skin in order to harness the power of the bodies natural healing ability. In this process the epidermis (the top layer of the skin) is almost completely removed and the cells that produce new collagen and elastin are activated. This results in removal of excess pigment in the top layers of the skin and leads to brighter, more elastic, luminous skin.
The Perfect Peel is a blend ingredients that contains a magic component called Glutathione. This amazing molecule is a powerful antioxidant that helps to reduce damage to the skin caused by free radicals and it can slow down the ageing process leading to the prevention of wrinkles, age spots and sun damage. It also acts as a skin lightening agent by blocking the production of melanin that can produce darker areas of skin.
Other constituents of the Perfect Peel include Kojic acid. TCA (trichloroacetic acid), Phenol and retinoid acid and Salicylic acid. This blend of ingredients has a powerful lightening effect on the skin, promotes collagen and elastin production, reduces wrinkles, exfoliates the skin and has an anti-inflammatory effect.

I took advantage of not being able to leave the house during the Covid-19 lockdown of Spring 2020 and placed the Peel on the afternoon of April 22nd. The administration caused a strong tingling, slight stinging sensation that was uncomfortable but not painful. It made my eyes water slightly but was definitely tolerable.
Once the Peel product is placed it needs to be left for at least 6 hours due to it's self-neutralisation process. I left the peel overnight and washed my face gently with water the following morning.
The next day my face looked and felt like I had sunburn, not severely but enough that it was red and felt quite tight. In line with the post treatment care advice I gently washed my face with water only, used good sun protection and gently wiped with the post peel towelettes provided in the home care kit.
The peeling started on day 3 and, as expected, it was quite dramatic.
Large flakes of skin were evident and although it was very tempting to pick and pull at them, knowing that doing so would increase the risk of scarring prevented me from doing it. Instead I used a pair of sterile scissors to carefully trim back the loose skin as closely as I could do.
The new underlying skin was a little pink and tender in some areas and the flaking skin was very itchy.
In order to reduce the itching, Iused the post peel moisturiser which helped significantly!
I still had some areas of itchiness and flakiness where my skin was sloughing although in general my skin was absolutely glowing!
I continued to use the post-peel moisturiser and minimal skincare until the sensitive areas had completely resolved a few days later.
Following the resolution of the final areas of sloughing I started following the prescription homecare protocol for my skincare regime in order to further enhance the results.
My main concern was a couple of areas of pigmentation so I have been using The Perfect Cleanser and The Perfect C Serum morning and night along with The Perfect B Cream at night.
The Perfect Cleanser aloe gel based cleanser that deep cleans without irritation and contains azelaic acid, green tea extract, willow bark and sugarcane.
The Perfect C Serum contains a highly advanced, stable form of Vitamin C which has powerful antioxidant activity and is blended with other components that work together to brighten and even out the skin tone and prolong the results of The Perfect Peel.
I am going to continue with the skincare regime to maximise the results of my peel and the true results will be visible on and after Day 28 once the effects of the collagen and elastin production is evident.
I am really excited about the results I can see so far. My skin is brighter and more luminous , it feels tighter and yet more flexible at the same time. I can definitely see an improvement in the areas of pigmentation that I have. I placed the peel 19 days ago and the true benefits will not be completely evident for more than another week.
This treatment does require some downtime and that needs to be taken into consideration and planned for when undergoing this procedure. There is no other treatment quite like this one and the results are worth the few days that may require a slight change in routine.
My advice would be that days 3-5, where there is significant peeling taking place, are the days that may require reduced contact with others (depending on your confidence levels). A long weekend should be sufficient for most people.
There are some treatments available that have significantly less downtime and still create beautiful results. For example, combining a more superficial peel with WOW fusion microneedling and mesotherapy can deliver some amazing benefits to the skin. Like the Perfect Peel, the best results can be achieved from a course of treatments 2-4 weeks apart.
As with all our treatments here at Ridge Aesthetics we recommend a thorough consultation in order to discuss the results you wish to achieve and how we can best achieve them.
